Chapter 7......Scaleaha

A thin shaft of light slides over my face.

I groan.

Another beam bounces towards me before crossing my face sending a ray of light onto my eyes.

They flick open.

I slam my body upwards, my eyes wide.

'Where am I' I think.

'Is this a dream or something?'

"Ah...your awake." My father says walking towards me.

"Where am I and why are you alive...your meant to be dead! Not to mention Malanao and Kanyanta!" I scream.

"Don't your remember," He asks smoothly.

"NO!"

"Now, let me explain this to you. I never died or was sick; and Kanyanta never really ran away. Well he did but not fully. He came here, to help me."

To help you with what?" I ask sulkily.

"I'm coming to that" He slickly replies.

"And Malanao...what's he doing here?"

"He's here with us working on our.....project."

"But I killed him!"

"Oh did you now. What if I told you we had strung a small black net up twenty centimetres from the ground!"

"But When I went to check his pulse there was no net!"

"No. That's because when you were climbing down the wall we removed the net and moved him slightly to make it less obvious."

"But when I felt his wrist for a pulse there was none!"

"Ah that's where you were wrong! We had places a thin padded layer on his wrist. We made sure it looked like skin but we didn't have to worry too much because it was dark...anyway you couldn't fell his pulse through that causing you to think he was dead!"

"Okay, okay, I've been fooled but tell my this now! What are you doing here!"

"Were going to fix the world! Remove that vile stone Scaleaha and whoever has got it then destroy it."

"Do you even know what the stone does?" I ask bitterly.

"Why yes I do. It controls humans input to the world. If that stone wasn't there there would be no bush no animals and humans could have an entire planet to themselves!"

"You wouldn't dare!"

"Hang on a second Missy...how do you know about the stone"

He glances at my wrist where the silk pouch hangs.

"GET HER!!!!!" He calls!

I sprint off down a tunnel going left and right in a maze of confusion.

Guards bounce at my tail getting closer and closer to me.

I see the entrance in front of me.

'Would the guards follow me outside?' I think.

A guard reaches out to grab me but I find myself falling through a hole.

Into a dungeon.

Sorry about the wait...this isn't a very good chapter but hopefully tomorrows might be a bit better!

Chapter 6....Scaleaha

Why would some random stranger be talking about Scaleaha?
Not to mention in my cave!
In the kids cave.
I turn and begin to run away from the cave but then I remember my Maskas favorite saying.
'Follow your dreams, but more importantly take risks!'
I stop dead in my tracks; a single tear rolling gently down my cheek.
I turn back.
"For you Maska!" I say and run back towards the cave.
Instead of entering slowly and timidly I barge in, full speed as though I'm a raging bull fighting in the arena.
'Quiet feet better than loud feet on a battle field. Surprises the enemy.'
This time words of advice from my father.

He past away when I was seven years old.
He died from an awful illness.
He was a herbalist.
Every summer he would leave the house and enter this very forest.
Every autumn; just as winter was about to brake he would return; every year, except this one. We received a letter by pigeon post around January the 18th.
It was a note from one of his companions explaining that he was very ill, definitely not strong enough to continue the expedition, or return home for that matter.
Another month on we received a second letter, this time brought personally to our household explaining his death.

He had never been a loud person.
More of the quiet type, keeping to himself most of the time.
My brother Kanyanta also disappeared around this time, never to be seen again.

My house had been split in two.
The boys looked after by the gods, and my Maska and me left alone at home in our large house causing us to move home and me to end my education.

I think of him now as I enter the cave.
My rage reduced to a calm.
I think about how strange his sudden illness was.
I sometimes wonder whether the story was true.
Maybe he was murdered, or maybe he had run of never too be seen again.

I slip down another corner.
The voices louder now.
My walk turns to a run, my run to a sprint, my sprint to the ground.
I land hard on my back the whole ground vibrating.
The cave goes quiet; the voices stop.
I here footsteps hurrying down the tunnel.
I see faces looking down on me.
I rub my eyes.
Surely my eyes are lying?
No they can't be.
Above me stands my father, my brother and Malanao.

Does anyone other than Ms Candy every read this?
If no-one does I'll stop. I'm Writing this for you guys yet I get no feedback and when I do its from one person. I apologize to the people who do comment and do read this, but I am honestly considering stopping.....

Chapter 5....Scaleaha

"WHY ME!" I whimper.

"Why is it always me."

"Holiya? Is that you?" I hear me Maska call.

"Yes Maska!

was just....just talking to Sheeka.

She and Malanao walked me home....I'm going....camping with them...If that's okay......Shes waiting outside."

"Okay then........If they say that's alright."

"Maska I have checked." I lie fluently.

"Okay! Have fun!

Are you leaving now?"

"Yes Maska...I have packed, last night."

At least that was the truth.

"Okay come and say good-bye!"

I slip my rucksack over my shoulder.

Then walk to the kitchen.

Maska has packed me a lunchbox stuffed to the brim with preservable food.

I slip into the laundry and say good-bye.

My eyes fill with tears but I blink them back.

"Good-bye Maska." I say keeping my voice steady.

"Good-bye. I will see you in a week.

"I slip back into the kitchen and place a crumpled note on the bench:

Dear Maska,The truth is I am not going camping.

I will not return in a week.

I am going away.

Away for a long time.

Longer than a week.

Maybe longer than a month.

Dear Maska, It is even possible i will never see you again.

I cannot leave you the place where I am going on this note.

Or why I am leaving.

But please Maska remember the codes we used to crack.

I will tell you in code.

Copy the code and lock it in the safe.

Then burn this letter.

Let no-one else see it.

Most of all I love you Maska.

Never forget this.

Yours with love, Holiya.

Here is the code.

I am going to leave this place.

I'm going to change my name.

I'm going to the cave.

Though I will always keep the name you gave me close to your heart.

I am sorry about the mistakes in my letter but I can scrsly remember the letters.

Please dear Maska I leave you with this.

LOVE

I slip through the door and into the hall.
I wave a kiss towards the laundry then run out the front door.
I run down my cobbled lane and into the market. I throw my gold Malea shoes in the trading bin and swap them for a pair of brown outdoor shoes.
I then slip them on and hurry down the lane to the town gates.
"STOP!" A uniformed guard says.
I am entirely prepared for this.
"Maleajaskanao" I say.
The guard shakes his head.
"Okay kid go on."
I hurry on through the gates and enter the forest.
I continue to run until I reach the big oak.
Here is where I leave the track.
I look to the left.
The bush is far more overgrown than it was last time I visited.
I slip into the rocky terrain.
This is the only way to stop my Maska from discovering me.
The only place she doesn't know about.
My hideaway.
I walk for a long time.
I'm beginning to wonder whether this is the right way wen suddenly I see it.
A small rock face with a cave entrance in the side.
I approach hurriedly, then stop in my tracks.
I'm sure I've just heard something, or someone say something from my cave.
I'm not surprised.
The cave is used by lots of people.
Its the word I heard that troubled me.
The word I heard was..................Scaleaha.

So who was in the cave?
Find out next chapter.
PLEASE COMMENT AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

Chapter 4......Scaleaha

"Maska, I'm going to Sheeka's okay!?" I yell from my bedroom.
"Stay and have some supper!" She replies.
"Can I take some with me?" I ask.
"If you must!"
"I might stay the night but I might come back. Is that alright Maska!" I ask.
'Okay, just DON'T forget your supper!
"Sleana Savale Maska!"
"Sodie!"

I grab my coat and Scaleaha's pouch off my bed.
I run to the kitchen and snatch the glass container filled with my supper off the bench.
I hurry down the hall and swing around the pile of washing in the dining room.
Out the door, down the steps, along the road back to Ravana Prima.
I retrace my steps following my left, right, left, right pattern.
I grin as I arrive at the wall.
I sit and open my container.
I pull out a piece of bread and nibble at its dry crust.
I finish with a gulp the scramble up the wall onto the roof.
I walk to the trapdoor and gently lift it open.
The town bell strikes Elargo (8).
I imagine that the family will soon be in bed.
Surely not in the kitchen.
I smoothly lower myself down the ladder, pulling the trapdoor shut behind me.
I reach the bottom and smoothly shuffle across the floor and into the hall.
I dash past Sheeka's room and into what I think is Malanao's.
I slide under the bed, my heart racing.
I roll onto my back and wait, and wait, and wait!

After what seems like years feet enter the room.
Malanao's.
I hold my breath my heart pounding.
He lowers himself onto the bed making the wood bend above me.
I wait for another fifteen minutes until his breathing slows to an steady rhythm then crawl out from under the bed.
I stand and put my hand above his mouth then shake him.
He groans then rolls over.
I shake him again.
His eyes snap open.
He looks at me terrified, then opens his mouth to scream.
I lower my hand flat over his mouth and put my finger to my lips.
I pull a knife out from under the bed and glint it in the light.
His eyes widen.
I put the knife in the glass container then pick it up.
I signal for him to stand.
He stays sitting.
I reach for my container.
He instantly stands and follows me out of the room and up the ladder onto the roof.
"Where is my Scaleaha!" I whisper.
"I don't know! I swear!" Malanao replies.
"Tell me!" I say, louder this time.
"I promise you! I don't know where your stone is! I took the bag intending to take the stone too, but there was nothing in there!" He says.
I put my finger to my lips again.
"Why did you want it anyway?" I ask.
"To sell. For money. I am poor. My family is poor. We need money!"
"You don't understand do you! I NEED MY STONE!!!"
" I'm sorry! I can't help you!"
"Fine!" I mumble!
I stand and walk behind him.
Before I know what I'm doing I've pushed him and he is falling slowly off the roof and down, down, down to the cold hard ground.
He hits with a crack and I stare.
Stare at the blood.
Stare at the felling of death.

So Holiya is now a murderer or is she!
Please leave your comments here and please keep them relevant!

Chapter 3....Scaleaha

My mind spins.
I feel myself get weaker and weaker finally making the connection.
"Holiya?" I hear Sheeka say.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine," I say, snapping back to earth.
Malanao grins. I can see he recognizes me but he gives no indication of this to his sister.
"This is Holiya," Sheeka tells him.
"Nice to meet you," he lie's.
"Sleana Savale!" I reply.
He nods.
"Can you leave my room now Malanao?" Sheeka asks him.
"Fine then!" he says reaching for Scaleaha.
Suddenly I snatch my Scaleaha off the bed and sprint out of the room.
Down the hallway, into the kitchen, up the ladder, onto the roof, down the wall, along the ally, down the road, around the corner, where next?
I stop in my tracks.
I wish I had paid more attention as I had run here.
I'm lost in a completely different part of the city than I'm used to in the pouring rain with a mad man and his sister chasing me all over a stupid stone.
I take a deep breath then run right.
Left, right, left making the route up as I go.
Surely they've lost my track now!
I should stop, and walk, but I can't stop.
They would find me.
I'm sure.
I turn yet another corner.
Then suddenly I see it.
Ravana Prima.
My old primary school.
I finally know where I am!
I follow my old route back to my small clay house.
"Vedi Maska!!!" I call to my Mum.
"Vedi!" She calls back.
I go into the bathroom and hang Scaleaha on the door handle.
I light a fire in the bath pit then carry buckets of water over to the bath and poor them in.
My bath slowly heats.
When its a nice lukewarm temperature I climb in.
I let my body relax and the baddness of the day slip away from me.
"Holiya!" I here my Maska call.
I lift me head out of the bath.
"Yeah!" I call back.
"Do you homework!"
I slip my head back into the bath the fumble for the plug.
I find the chain then pull.
The water rushes out of my bath and onto the fire putting it out.
I rap a crisp towel around my body and grab a hot cocoa of the beanch.
I pull the Scaleaha pouch of the door handle and open the pouch.
I slip my hand inside.
The pouch is empty.
Scaleaha has gone.

Here is a list of the words and there meanings.
-Sleana Savale!-A common Sxwalloin term meaning soft as silk. It is a respectful way to say thankyou to someone older than you.
Vedi Maska-Hi mum
Vedi-Hi
Once again this is my own writting and it is COPYWRIGHT!

Chapter 2.....Scaleaha

I've never been great at running.
I can run a lap of the field and do the school cross country but I always seem to come last, no-matter how hard I try.
It doesn't bother me.
I know I'm good at other things but man it bothering me now!
Why can't I run faster?
I've been running for ages.
Chasing Malanao, the stone and my destiny.
The rain hasn't stopped yet.
Its only got harder, making the visibility poor.
Malanao's bounds around another corner.
I don't know this part of town very well...in fact I've barley ever been anywhere near here. Malanao dances around yet another corner.
I follow.
Surely Malanao's near the place he's heading now?
I run on.
Suddenly a wall blocks my way.
I look around but there is no other way out other than where I've come from.
Where could Malanao be?
"Holiya!" I hear a familiar voice call.
I look up.
There stands Sheeka, my friend from Ravana Prima.
She's standing on the roof above me.
"Come up here!" She calls.
I begin to pull myself up the wall. It uses up all the rest of my energy leaving me exhausted.
She leads me down a trap door and into a small house.
She pulls a clay pot off a shelf and offers me a lolly.
I thank her and follow her down the hallway into her bedroom.
I enter the room then freeze.
On the bed sits my Scaleaha......and Malanao.
Mwwha ha ha.. I've really left you hanging now....I thought you would find this bit of information interesting.
The story is set around 10 years ago.
It is set in Anledides city in Sxwallo (a country) they have their own language and religion which will unravel as the story goes on.
I have made this all up on the spot but already I am attatched and may become accostumed to some of their customs myself.

Lastly once again this is my own work and it is COPYRIGHT. I appresiate your comments, requests and ideas. Happy commenting.

Chapter 1......Scaleaha

Cold fingers grasp my neck pulling me back away from my destiny.
"No!" I cry, yanking them away.
Drowning out the shouts of people near me.
"Stop!" I call but my words fade into the distance.
Rain bounces of the ground along with my tears, no difference between the two....not anymore at least.
My clothes stick to my body, frail from the sorrow of the sad day not yet over, reviving my body with a fresh blast of sadness.
"Why me!" I call to no-one in particular.
Why did I have to be the guarder of the stone!
Why couldn't someone else do the job!
The stone had given me a purpose for my life for my heart and sole to have a job to for fill.
Why hadn't I run after Malanao when he had taken the stone?
Fear.
The cause of all evil.
"Why!" I call again.
Someone drops an umbrella at my feet.
Not a budget cheep umbrella that you buy from a department store but a real expensive one probably handmade for this person.
I look up.
Oh the confusion of it all why me!!!!!!!
"Why me!!!!" I call, yet again.
I throw the umbrella in the gutter and chase after my destiny.
The stone, and Malanao.

This is the first chapter of my new novel "Schaleaha".
